YDA Announces New National Executive Director:
Political Veteran Alexandra Acker to Lead YDA in 2008 Cycle
(Washington, DC) The Young Democrats of America is proud to announce Alexandra Acker as the new National Executive Director. Acker has worked for many progressive causes and Democratic candidates and her work focused on youth outreach during the 2004 presidential campaign. Acker’s skills and leadership will prove invaluable as the YDA continue to mobilize young voters for the 2008 presidential election cycle.
“Since 2004, YDA helped create a young bloc of Democratic voters. Alexandra Acker’s breadth and depth of experience mobilizing young people on a national scale to vote for Democrats will allow us to expand that investment in 2008,” said YDA President Chris Gallaway.
Acker, a seasoned political operative, served as the National Youth Outreach Director for the John Kerry for President Campaign and the Democratic National Committee in 2004, Campus Outreach Manager for Planned Parenthood, and a Regional Training Director for Democratic GAIN. Most recently, Acker served as Campaign Manager, for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law’s National Campaign for Fair Elections. Acker will manage YDA’s National and State staff in implementing multi-million dollar investments in YDA’s 1,500 chapters.
“The 2004 and 2006 elections shattered the myth that young people don’t vote,” said Alexandra Acker. “YDA is leading the way for our generation, engaging young voters in new ways to provide the margin of victory for Democrats in 2008 and beyond.”
The Young Democrats of America (YDA), the official youth arm of the Democratic Party since 1932, is a youth-led political organization. YDA has over 1,500 local chapters in 46 states and territories whose include including middle school, high school and college students as well as young workers, young professionals and young families.

The following was sent to Jane Fleming as Executive Director.
To say the least I consider this particular stance misguided.
Briefly.
Democrats/liberals on Fox – good.
Handing them OUR debate – bad. The debate is for
Democrats (unless you expect the Republicans to
vote in our primary which is becoming more difficult
with every Supreme Court ruling). The debate is OURS.
Put in on Current, Democracy Now, ??? and watch some
voters really get interested in the Democratic values prior to knowing she had resigned.
Put it on ESPN – just anything but Fox. You will have
given Fox an automatic pass for the next two years to
use “Fair and Balanced as endorsed by the Democrats”.
They must be Fair and Balanced – else why would the Dems
have given them the keys to their debates? Do you think
the typical Fox viewer is going to absorb your nuanced
reasoning or do you think they are simplly going to
feel the vibe that Dems think Fox is just another network?
Please – take a cold shower and get back to fighting
