Where are you going to be August 28? If it’s Denver, awesome, but you don’t have to keep reading.

For those of us who aren’t going to Denver, the YDA has put together a program to keep us occupied that night: Convention Watch Parties. We’re asking young Democrats to sign up here to host a small gathering of their friends, relatives and co-workers to watch Barack’s acceptance speech that Thursday. Interest in the Democratic Party will be running high around Convention time, so we will strike while the iron is hot and try and engage as many new people as we can through our individual social networks.

The philosophy behind these events is that of peer-to-peer communication. We are big on peer-to-peer here at the YDA; with youth especially, friends talking to friends, rather than slick campaign ads or glossy mailings, is the best way to disseminate ideas and information. With the entire digital world at our finger tips it is now possible to mobilize peer-to-peer campaigns on a scale that would have been unheard of years ago, like, for example, these Watch Parties.

By the way, if any of you have good ideas for Convention Watch Party Games email us at conventionwatch@yda.org or leave it as a comment.
