Yes, I watch Gossip Girl. It’s not a season pass in my TiVo though (I don’t watch it that much) so I did catch the commercials this week.
Here’s why Gossip Girl matters: the Obama campaign aired an ad every 15 minutes. They’re literally putting their money where their mouth is.
This is one of the most important developments of the campaign, as far as I’m concerned. Not only does the Obama campaign realize this is a demographic worth going after, they’ve also convinced their media consultants. And it’s no small task to change the conventional wisdom of the consultant class. I’d love to know how big the buy is for the youth demographic but the fact that they’re spending money to target young (and, alas, not so young anymore) women is a big change from the politics as usual.
I’ll really get excited when they run ads during Project Runway.













I wasn’t able to watch GG this week, but I wish I had! This show has a cult following, and Obama is smart to aire his ads!
