On an unusually balmy afternoon, last Saturday, members of the New Jersey Young Democrats Executive Board met with numerous organizational leaders including county and local chapter leaders as well as caucus leaders to discuss the 2009 New Jersey Young Democrats Action Plan. We were joined by YDA National Political Director Hailey Snow, who made the trek up from Washington, DC to discuss how to build and maintain strong county and local chapters. The group discussed how we can work to help re-elect Governor Jon Corzine and make certain that the General Assembly stays in Democratic control. In addition, we talked about how to help young Democratic candidates in campaign activities. Among the ideas flouted included direct peer-to-peer campaigning, a high school student advocacy program to ensure all 18 year-olds statewide are given the opportunity to register at school as well as the upcoming NJYD State Convention to be held on June 20, 2009 in Burlington County. At the end of the session, members were excited to bring new ideas to the table and to continue building and maintaining a strong organization for future generations.
