We have never been this close to health insurance reform in America!
While the road has been bumpy, there is now hope for the millions of Americans, including the 13.7 million young Americans who are currently without health care. There is hope for that college student who is making the choice right now between paying tuition and seeing a doctor. There is hope for that young family who has played by the rules but cannot afford vital health insurance. There is hope for that young American who fears being dropped from their health plan because of a pre-existing condition while they are in the middle of treatment.
Even now, there are those in Washington who need that final push to make a courageous vote that will forever change America for the better. President Obama has asked members of both the House and Senate to have courage. Now, we must add our voices to that plea.
These votes are tough. Yet the facts remain unchanged and undisputed: Americans need healthcare. Young people across the country have made health reform a priority and are sharing their stories with their Members of Congress and with the rest of America. YDA will be tracking the health reform debate from now until legislation is passed. Be sure to check out the YDA Blog for updated news, talking points, and stories from members like you. I am encouraging all of you to push hard on this vote, and to not let up until legislation is on the President’s desk.
Every once in a while it is the younger generation that must show courage and leadership. This is our time; this is our fight for creating the America that can and should be, the America we will inherit. Where others might follow, let this generation of young and progressive Americans NEVER back down.
Please take a minute to send a message to your Representative and ask them to be courageous and stand up for the millions of young Americans who are without health care!
