This weekend is the National Day of Action, and here in Arizona we’re preparing for canvasses in both Tempe and Tucson that bring together members from all of our Young Democrat chapters. We’ll have representatives from the high school, college, and professional level joining together for a common goal: help elect Democrats in Arizona by turning out our peers.

Congressman George Miller (D-CA) and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) today introduced the Reverse the Raid on Student Aid Act of 2006 to cut interest rates in half on college loans for student borrowers with the most financial need and for parent borrowers.

Thanks to the Republican lead Congress interest rates on student loans went up to 8.5% this year and Pell grants have been slashed. Young Democrats are not sitting idly by while the Republicans raid student aid. We are taking political action.
