There is an old joke that campaign veterans toss around war rooms, bars and BS sessions. We say there are people who have worked in campaigns who say that they have lost some – and we call those folks operatives, managers, strategists, consultants; and then there are people who work in campaigns and say that they have never lost, and we call them liars.
The 2007 YDA National Convention was our biggest in years. Roughly 1,000 Young Democrats from around the nation gathered in Dallas for trainings, speakers, officer elections, and a whole bunch of celebrating as we looked back on our recent successes and reflected on the last 75 years.

The Washington Blade, the nation's premier gay newspaper, featured YDA President David Hardt and YDA Executive Vice President Chris Anderson in a recent story, Young Democrats elect two gays as top leaders.
President Bush's war advisor (who knew that was an actual title?), Lt. General Douglas Lute, said reinstating the draft is not off the table. On Friday, Lute said, "I think it makes sense to certainly consider it."
In a bit of timely irony, this video has been circulating recently, showing College Republicans at their national convention discussing their support of the war in Iraq yet, curiously, stating varied and comedic reasons why they can't enlist.
