Brief info

Samantha “Sam” Jane is an experienced fundraising and campaign professional, working on campaigns for over a decade at the local, state, and federal levels. In addition to serving YDA as a national officer, Sam is a National Committee Representative for Virginia.

After watching Texas state Senator Wendy Davis’ historic 2013 filibuster, Sam was inspired to make a change in abortion rights and is now a well-known reproductive justice advocate, frequently included in panels such as the recent Feminist Majority Youth Summit. Sam has spent their entire career working for pro-choice candidates and causes, including four years running EMILY’s List’s former national training program teaching pro-abortion women how to run for office. Sam was a part of the founding of Repro Workers, helping them fundraise for abortion clinic workers impacted by the fall of Roe v. Wade and for different pro-abortion causes. Sam currently serves their community as an abortion doula, being with patients while they receive their care.

Before joining as a YDA officer, Sam has been involved with Young Democrats since 2012 as a part of their college chapter. Since 2018, Sam has held various leadership positions including being a chartered unit president, Chair of the LGBTQ+ Caucus, Chair of the YDA Legislation Committee, and most recently YDA’s Political and Strategy Director. With the Virginia Young Democrats, Sam is serving their fifth term on the board first as VAYD’s Membership Director and now as their National Committee Representative. Sam was proud to bring a YDA National Meeting to Virginia in 2023.

Sam is proud to call Virginia home after spending much of their life in rural Nebraska and Fort Worth, Texas. They are an alumnus of the University of Nebraska and Texas Christian University. Sam is an avid sports fan, fantasy football champion, TV and concert lover, and enjoys baking.
