Mission Statement: The Veterans Caucus of the Young Democrats of America works to empower, organize, and
advocate for young veterans, active-duty service members, and military families within the
Democratic movement. Our mission is to ensure that the voices and experiences of those who
have served are represented in the policies, priorities, and leadership of Young Democrats of
America. We strive to advance policies that support veterans’ health, economic security, and
success, while promoting civic engagement and leadership among veterans in the next
generation of Democratic leaders. Through advocacy, education, and community-building, the
caucus strengthens the role of veterans in shaping a more just, secure, and inclusive future.
Our caucus aims to do the following:
- Advocacy for veterans’ policies
- Promotes policies related to veterans’ healthcare, benefits, and support programs.
- Pushes YDA to adopt resolutions supporting veterans and service members.
- Representing veterans within YDA
- Acts as the voice of veteran members inside the organization.
- Make sure veterans’ issues are considered when YDA sets policy priorities or political positions.
- Organizing veteran members
- Connects young veterans, active-duty service members, and military families who are
part of YDA. - Builds a community within the youth Democratic movement.
